Frequently asked questions - Home

  • Yes, you are. We default to cheapest but there are loads of preferences you can set, like to only compare suppliers with certain customer service ratings or only green tariffs. We will always notify you of any switch and it’s one click from our alert email to accept.

  • Of course, you can cancel in one click, within 14 days.

  • You don’t pay a bean. Your new energy supplier pays us a commission. This does not influence what we offer you - we are independent and get paid the same no matter who you choose.

Frequently asked questions - Business

  • All brokers and third party intermediaries (TPIs) charge for their service of switching you to a new energy tariff. Neither they nor us charge any up front fee to do this. But there is a “micro fee” that tends to be added to the rate your energy supplier charges you per kilowatt hour. This operates like a tiny uplift. Most brokers and TPIs charge between £0.002 - £0.03 per kwh but various depending on whether the fuel is gas or electricity and whether you’re a large or small consumer.

The key differences between us and other services are that:

    1. We’re transparent and up front about this charge; and

    2. We endeavour to always charge the lowest fee i.e. in that £0.002 - £0.03 range, we charge £0.002

Our service should cost you approximately 3% of the savings we unlock.

  • We cannot always know what other brokers and TPIs are charging. But to the best of our ability and knowledge, we charge the lowest fees in the market for our service. Whilst endeavouring to unlock the largest savings!

  • Suppliers we work with include: Avanti Gas; Axis; Bristol Energy; British Gas; British Gas Lite; Clear Business; CNG; Corona; Crown Energy; D-Energi; Dual Energy; Ecotricity; EDF; Engie; EON; Gazprom; Gulf Energy; Haven Power; Hudson Energy; npower; Opus Energy; Orsted; Osso Gas; Robin Hood; Scottish Power; SSE; Squeaky; Total; UGP; UKGas; Utilita; YGP; Yu Energy.

  • If you are a half hourly consumer, we can still provide you wish an instantly personalised quote via our website. However, if you wish to have energy suppliers tender for your business, please email us at business@perse.energy.

  • When we show you a carbon footprint calculation, this is based on carbon calculator.

  • Our savings projections are based on the cost of inaction. When your current energy tariff ends, if you do not switch, you will be automatically rolled onto your supplier’s deemed or rollover rates. We calculate what this would cost you on an annual basis and compare it to the annual cost of the tariffs we can switch you to.

We do not compare against your current tariff costs as those will stop being available in the market when your contract ends. We feel it is misleading to give you information based on prices that will no longer exist.

  • We are the first service to enable you to compare green business energy tariffs. We do this in two ways, depending on the preference and information provided to us by the energy suppliers we work with.

If an energy supplier makes a specific commitment tied to a specific tariff, then we base the fuel mix on that information. I.e. some tariffs are 100% green; whereas not all of that energy supplier’s tariffs carry that same green promise. In the absence of a specific tariff promise, we rely on the energy supplier’s fuel mix. This is information they are mandated at law to disclose to the energy regulator, Ofgem, each year.

We are adding to our green tariff filter and definitions soon. This will enable you to choose between different types of green and net zero tariffs.

  • The 14 day cooling off period that exists for households unfortunately does not apply for businesses. Please ensure you read the details fully before you agree to a new contract. You can terminate your contract if you move property, however. This is known as a change of tenancy. Email us at business@perse.energy for more information.

  • We do not switch you without your consent. We simply notify you of the cheapest tariffs available to you, when you’re able to switch again. You will be able to accept by a couple of clicks and within seconds!
